Prep Nurse
The Prep Nurse is responsible for preparing patients safely and efficiently before their endoscopic procedure. This includes completing a thorough intake—reviewing allergies, medications, and past medical history—obtaining vital signs, ensuring the patient is properly gowned, and ensuring the patient has an IV started. Prep Nurses communicate any concerns to the anesthesiologist or gastroenterologist to ensure patient readiness. At the end of their prep assignment, they restock their supplies and monitor the assignment board for a possible new assignment, otherwise they can float.
